Asha Grace Carroll, 26, left her career in opera to start her own gluten-free baking subscription box called “Cake in a Crate.” Opera was something she had worked on for years, supporting herself through grad school and braving through the competitive New York opera world. After her stint at an arts education start-up as the Director of Operations she realized that she loved creating systems and procedures. She had been searching for a supportive gluten-free community and decided to create that community based on her ethos, “Never go a day without dessert.”
